The club is located just outside Guildford in tranquil countryside and is just 5 minutes from the A3, convenient for London, the M25 and south coast. Merrist Wood is a members based course but encourages visitors and groups. Over last few years we have entertained a range of golfing societies and corporate golfing events. Merrist Wood was chosen as the host venue to launch the Senior Professional Golf Tour in the UK.
Our international visitors also enjoy the ancient traditions and etiquette of Golf upheld by the Club. The course is laid out in nearly 250 acres, keeping the holes well spaced so that even on a busy day it can feel like you are out there on your own.
Our high quality greens are constructed and maintained to USGA specification. The course designer, David Williams, has created a golf course that will reward golfers of all standards.
At nearly 7,000 yards the course is one of the longest in Surrey. When played from our championship tees it offers a real challenge to golfers of any standard. There are forward tees on all holes but with the white tees at 6,600 and yellow tees at 6,300 it still offers a challenge for any player to play to their handicap.
The holes offer a great deal of variety. Water comes into play on 5 of the holes and strategically placed bunkers can catch wayward shots so there is a premium on keeping the ball straight on this testing golf course.
Both the front and back 9 holes start and return to the clubhouse offering easy combinations of 9,18,27 or 36 hole events.
